Instagram has rolled out a sophisticated message filtering system designed specifically for creator accounts. This new feature, announced by platform chief Adam Mosseri, enables creators to sort their message requests into distinct categories including “verified accounts,” “businesses,” “creators,” and “subscribers.”
This upgrade marks a significant improvement from the previous system, which only allowed sorting by time or follower count. Drawing parallels to Gmail’s labeling functionality, the new filtering options give creators more control over their message organization. The update extends to story replies as well, enabling quick access to specific audience feedback.
“This is one step in the right direction,” noted Mosseri, highlighting Instagram’s commitment to enhancing creator experience. The feature addresses longstanding requests from prominent users who handle substantial message volumes and require efficient communication tools.
Dating back to 2018, when Instagram first introduced creator accounts, the platform has consistently developed specialized tools like message filtering and follower analytics to support influencers, celebrities, and content creators. This latest addition is anticipated to streamline inbox management and boost creator engagement, furthering Instagram’s goal of providing a more efficient and organized platform for its professional users.
