Woman Incarcerated Following Violent Canine Incident

Read Time:46 Second

Seren Lloyd, 23, has been given a seven-month prison sentence for her role in a chaotic dog attack in Londonderry. The event unfolded on August 4, 2023, when Lloyd’s pit bull-type dog assaulted a smaller canine in Clon Elagh.

As the situation escalated, Lloyd and a male associate became combative towards those attempting to intervene, including the smaller dog’s owner and a taxi driver. Reports indicate that Lloyd wielded a chain-like dog lead as a weapon, while her companion physically assaulted the taxi driver who was trying to assist.

The attacked dog succumbed to its injuries, and Lloyd’s pit bull was subsequently euthanized. At Londonderry Magistrates’ Court, the presiding judge condemned the incident as “absolutely disgraceful” and expressed dismay at Lloyd’s behavior. Despite her defense citing intoxication and regret, the judge noted a negative pre-sentence report, emphasizing that Lloyd and her associate had exacerbated rather than mitigated the situation.
