Read Time:47 Second

According to reports, OpenAI intends to significantly increase the price of its popular AI tool, ChatGPT, over the next five years. The monthly subscription fee is expected to reach $22 by the end of this year, based on documents shared with investors. By 2029, OpenAI plans to raise the price to $44 per month.

A report from The New York Times disclosed that OpenAI is seeking additional investments to help offset its projected $5 billion loss this year, despite forecasting $3.7 billion in revenue. The company raised $300 million in August and is currently seeking further investment, with a valuation of $150 billion, which could bring in as much as $7 billion.

OpenAI’s transition from a non-profit to a for-profit business model removes limits on investor returns, potentially attracting more capital. The rising price of ChatGPT is part of OpenAI’s strategy to maintain profitability while continuing to innovate its technology.
