McLaren’s Zak Brown Hails ‘Best Season’ Amid Formula 1’s Unpredictable Turn

Formula 1 has taken a surprising and exciting turn in 2024. Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren, said it was the most interesting season he’s seen in his eight years as a manager. After the exciting Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Brown, whose driver Lando Norris is currently Max Verstappen’s closest title rival, talked about how excited he was about the increased competition.

Brown said, “There’s been non-stop action” with this season where almost everyone has had a chance to win. Six different teams have won the last eight races in Formula 1, which means that the competition has changed. Even though Verstappen has been the best in recent years, his most recent win was in June. This means that the race for the title will be more uncertain this year.

Oscar Piastri of McLaren won the Azerbaijan race on Sunday by passing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in a brave move. Sergio Perez of Red Bull was in the running until he crashed into Carlos Sainz Jr. of Ferrari, which let George Russell of Mercedes take third place. It took Lando Norris a charge from 15th place to fourth place, putting him close to Max Verstappen in the results.

Zak Brown thinks that this season is even more exciting than the title race between Verstappen and Hamilton in 2021, where the winner was chosen on the very last lap of the race. “That was really cool, but there are only two guys there.” There are now four teams that can win any weekend. “I don’t remember Formula 1 being this competitive before,” Brown said.

Brown is looking forward to the next race very much as the teams head to Singapore, a city street track that is known for being unpredictable. This season’s races are not predicted at all, as team results change depending on the track conditions, factory improvements, and even the tires chosen. Russell, a Mercedes driver, agreed and said that small changes can have a big effect on how a race turns out.

Even though there are eight drivers and four strong teams, Oscar Piastri of McLaren is still one of the best. He has scored the most points in the last seven races. This is one of the most exciting and wild Formula 1 seasons ever, with more and more mystery and excitement building as the season goes on.
