Leeds, England – A newborn baby girl was found dead in the Three Horse Shoes pub in Oulton, Leeds, on Sunday at around 4:45 p.m. in a terrible occurrence. Preliminary investigations suggest the baby might have been stillborn, according to authorities.

The baby’s death was confirmed by paramedics at the site, which led to the police reiterating their request to find the mother. In a Monday press conference, Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said that the baby’s death “may have taken place within that bathroom cubicle” based on the evidence. He also stressed that their main concerns are figuring out what happened and making sure the mother gets the care she needs.

Entwistle sent the mother a kind message, telling her that the police are not looking to make an arrest but are trying to assess the situation and help arrange for medical attention. He advised the mother to get in touch with the West Yorkshire Police or seek NHS medical assistance.

Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust’s head of safeguarding, Karen Sykes, expressed concern for the mother’s health and urged her to get medical attention right now. Sykes offered a number of choices, such as contacting 111, going to a pregnancy assessment centre, seeing a general practitioner, or attending one of the trust’s emergency departments.
