OpenAI’s ChatGPT has hit a big milestone: it now has 200 million weekly active users, up from 100 million in November of last year. This increase is another big win for OpenAI in a year that has already been full of them. Along with the rise in users, API usage has doubled since July, when GPT-4o mini came out. This shows that more people are becoming interested in and relying on OpenAI’s technology.

The fact that OpenAI has more users isn’t the only good news. OpenAI’s annualized income has risen to $3.4 billion, a big jump from $1.6 billion at the end of 2023, according to the company’s CEO, Sam Altman. This fast financial growth shows how much demand there is for AI solutions and how important OpenAI is as a leader in the field.

Also, big tech companies like Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft are said to be talking about investing in OpenAI’s new round of funding. The value of OpenAI could go above $100 billion thanks to this funding. Microsoft and Apple have both put $13 billion into OpenAI since 2019. Microsoft is now using ChatGPT in its new AI projects.

Antitrust concerns made by the European Commission caused both businesses to give up their seats on OpenAI’s board of directors not long ago. Even with these changes, OpenAI is still doing very well, solidifying its place as a major player in the field of artificial intelligence.
