The crew chiefs of two Craftsman Truck Series teams and one Xfinity Series team received penalties from NASCAR on Wednesday for violating lug-nut regulations during the races at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park and Indianapolis Motor Speedway last weekend.
After Saturday’s 2.5-mile Indianapolis oval Pennzoil 250, crew chief Andy Street of the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet was fined $5,000 for having an unsafe and loose lug nut. Riley Herbst of the No. 98 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford won the race, and Austin Hill, the driver, finished sixth despite the penalty. In the current Xfinity standings, Hill is ranked third. On Saturday, August 17, the series will resume at Michigan International Speedway.
Following Friday night’s TSport 200 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, NASCAR penalized crew chiefs Blake Bainbridge and Tyler Young $2,500 apiece for having one loose lug nut in the Truck Series. Daniel Dye, driver of the No. 43 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet, finished in 27th place. Bainbridge is in charge of this team. Thad Moffitt, who finished in 32nd place, is the driver of the No. 46 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet, which is owned by Young. Ty Majeski drove the No. 98 ThorSport Racing Ford to victory in the event.
The Truck Series will return to action at Richmond Raceway on August 10, which also happens to be the last regular season event. To watch the action, fans may tune in to FS1, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 7:30 p.m. ET.
