Since its announcement, I have mocked Apple’s F1 movie, believing it to be a cynical attempt at brand building. The intimate participation of the sport’s stars, teams, and regulatory body gives it the feel of a two-hour commercial. However, the film’s teaser trailer has me concerned since it seems like it might be really fantastic. Oh no.
A View of Star Power and Realism
Lewis Hamilton, the legendary driver of Formula One, co-produced the film and promised to make it the most realistic racing film ever filmed. The main character, played by Brad Pitt, is Sonny Hayes, who is brought out of retirement to coach Joshua Pierce, the hot new talent from Damson Idris. I’m convinced that this needs to be seen in 3D after watching the teaser’s last scene, which features roaring motors and labored breathing as the car speeds around the course.
It’s F1.

A Possible Turning Point for Racing Movies
It’s still possible for everything to go wrong, and this is the worst possible setting for a valiant underdog sports film. Even the smallest team, after all, is a multi-million dollar operation, with millionaires operating each vehicle. Furthermore, considering the lengthy homologation procedure, it’s not like you can boost your car above the competition with a crazy design change.
But an additional element of authenticity and excitement is added by the film’s focus on the harsh reality of the sport and the participation of real-life F1 figures, such as former Haas F1 team principal and current meme Guenther Steiner in a reaction shot.
A Cinematic Event You Won’t Want to Miss
The teaser teases an eye-catching experience that perfectly conveys the fury and speed of Formula One racing. This movie has the potential to be a highlight for both racing enthusiasts and mainstream audiences because of its all-star ensemble, intense action, and dedication to authenticity.
Though I was first dubious, the teaser for Apple’s F1 film has definitely aroused my curiosity. The movie is a must-see because it delivers on its realistic promise and benefits from Brad Pitt’s star power and Lewis Hamilton’s involvement. If the teaser is any guide, watching it in an IMAX theater could be the greatest way to take in the excitement of Formula One racing on a big screen.
Put summer 2025 on your calendars, then. This seems like a movie experience you won’t want to miss.
