In Limavady, County Londonderry, a man in his 60s tragically lost his life in a catastrophic collision during Storm Isha. The incident happened on Sunday night at around 21:45 GMT along Broad Road. The man’s van collided with another car and a fallen tree.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly, but the motorist passed away from the injuries he had received in the collision. For medical attention, the driver of the second vehicle involved has been taken to the hospital.

Councilwoman Ashleen Schenning of the SDLP responded to the tragic news by expressing her sadness and calling it “terrible, terrible news.” She emphasised the extensive damage Storm Isha caused to the local roads and trees while highlighting the harshness of the weather.
The DUP’s representative, Causeway Coast Mayor Steven Callaghan of Glens Council, described it as “devastating news” for the impacted family. He understood the shock and grief the community must be feeling after learning that a loved one was lost in the storm and did not return home.

With wind gusts as high as 80 mph in some places, Storm Isha has caused extensive disruption throughout Northern Ireland, forcing local communities to deal with the aftereffects of the extreme weather. While authorities continue to deal with the storm’s problems, locals are advised to use caution and be informed about any additional safety advice.
