The return of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024 promises to be an exciting cricketing extravaganza. This year, from June 1 to June 29, the competition will take place throughout the Caribbean and the US. Twenty teams will compete for the coveted championship that England currently holds. This is all the information you want on the teams, groups, schedule, locations, start times of the matches, and fixtures.
Groups and Teams
There are four groups of five teams each out of the twenty teams. There is intense competition between established teams and up-and-coming cricketing titans eager to display their skill.
Group A:
Ireland, Pakistan, India, US, and Canada
Group B:
Namibia, Scotland, Oman, England, Australia
Group C:
Papua New Guinea, Uganda, West Indies, Afghanistan, and New Zealand
Group D:
Netherlands, Bangladesh, Nepal, South Africa, and Sri Lanka
Structure of the Tournament
Three phases will comprise the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup: the group stage, the Super Eight, and the knockout round, which consists of the semifinals and final.
Collective Performance
Every team in the group stage will face every other team in its group in a round-robin style. Each group’s top two teams will move on to the Super Eight phase.
The Super Eight
The eight qualifying teams will be split into two groups of four for the Super Eight stage. Once more, these teams will compete in a round-robin system. Each Super Eight group’s top two teams will move on to the semifinals.
Stage of Knockout
The semifinals and final will make up the knockout stage. To compete for the title, the semifinal winners will square off in the final.
